Community
Charities make a hugely valuable contribution to society. In these difficult economic times Photo-Sonics International recognises the difficulties charities face in funding their good work. Although we continue to support their work through donations we also encourage our employees to share their time and expertise as volunteers.
To that end the company has offered to each employee a "Community Day". The employee nominates a charity in the local community they believe would benefit from a days volunteering, this is then treated as an additional day's holiday.
Where permitted we use our web site to advertise the charities in question, hopefully encouraging more volunteers to do good things.
Riding for the Disabled
The RDA (Riding for the disabled) involves two things very close to Amanda's heart, helping people and horses. So I was delighted when my company suggested that all members of staff could take a paid day per year off to help in the community. I knew that my choice would be to help the RDA when they come to a local riding yard and become a leader for the day with some very special horses namely Erin, Jimmy Blue and Larry.
This amazing charity gives the opportunity, to young people and adults who have various learning and/or physical disabilities, to have a fun day out with animals who seem to understand the needs of their precious riders.
Felicity and her band of volunteers organise her local group every fortnight and are always looking for extra eager hands to come along and either lead a horse or walk along side the horse and rider, she can be contacted via the RDA website www.rda.org.uk or on 08454507039. Go on make a difference, I did!
Alzheimers Research UK and Children with Cancer UK
Our office manager Amanda is taking part in the Cancer Research UK, relay for life, read all about it and make a donation.
